FAQs

Will I get a dedicated advisor?

Yes, when you sign on with Commas, you will have a dedicated advisor. All of our financial advisors maintain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, and as fiduciaries, are obligated to act in your best interests. As your main point of contact, your advisor will take the time to get to know you personally. It’s one of our favorite things about working with clients! Rest assured, we have a robust back-up system in place to ensure nothing slips through the cracks, even if your advisor is unavailable. You can always expect a response from a real person. Additionally, by working with Commas, you’ll have access to the collective knowledge and experience of both the entire Commas team and our colleagues at Truepoint Wealth Counsel.

What is your fee?

Our fee is $85/month plus 1.00% of assets under management. The monthly fee is waived if assets managed are more than $500,000.

Is there a minimum account size?

No!

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes! Being a fiduciary and acting in the best interest of our clients is a core tenet of our business. Want to know more? Check out this Commas blog post and video.

How long have you been around?

Commas began as RhineVest in 2015 as a financial planning and investment solution for the everyday investor without the hurdle of account minimums. In 2016, RhineVest was acquired by Truepoint Wealth Counsel—an investment advisor bringing fee-only fiduciary guidance, holistic financial planning and evidence-based investing to high-net-worth individuals and families. Five years later, RhineVest officially became Commas. We were drawn to the name Commas because commas are a critical part of anyone’s money story. Aside from separating thousands, millions, and billions, commas are used to prioritize and list the things we want our money to do for us: retirement, education, charitable giving, homes, bucket-list vacations…you name it. We find deep meaning in helping our clients identify and work towards all the different goals in their lives and wanted that to be reflected in the new name.

Can you tell me more about Truepoint Wealth Counsel?

Since 1990, Truepoint Wealth Counsel has sought to create the best personal financial advisory experience possible. As fee-only fiduciaries and 100% employee-owned, Truepoint offers a robust set of services delivered by an advisor and a team of in-house specialists, with deep focus on tax work and estate planning. Due to the complexity of these services, there is a recommended minimum investment portfolio of $3,000,000.

How do we meet with you?

This is completely up to you! We have local advisors in Cincinnati, and we enjoy meeting clients in person at either our Over-the-Rhine office or at Truepoint’s headquarters in Blue Ash. We also have advisors based outside of Cincinnati, who generally serve our clients based in other regions. As such, we host both in-person and Zoom meetings on a regular basis. It’s all about what works best for you.

How often do we meet with you?

As often as you need. We prefer to meet with existing clients at least once per year, but that frequency can be tailored to fit your preferences and needs. And of course, we are always on call as things come up throughout the year. If you want to know more about what it’s like to work with us, check out our process page.

How do you interact with my assets?

We work with an investment custodian, typically Betterment Securities, for the assets that we manage directly. This requires us to have discretionary authority to manage the accounts on your behalf. There are some accounts that we do not manage directly. For example, retirement accounts at work (401k, 403b, etc.) and other outside accounts (such as 529 savings plans or annuities). We are still happy to provide guidance in these areas.
